The power of an idea

Since 1994, much of my work has been focused on the production of a weekly television show, Small Business School. The show  aired on most PBS-member stations for 53 seasons.

Today, we are reinventing the show as a locally produced show with global distribution.

With over 300 episodes (26 new episodes per year) a lot was learned. Many key business truths were distilled.

So, we took each episode of the show and pulled it apart into the key ideas. That generated well over 2000 business insights that have been organized as a Daily Business Tips. Each is from an entrepreneur who has had some success in business and in life. It is always a video and it changes every day. The usual length is from two-to-three minutes long.

Once you click on the button to start the video, notice that a small title for that video appears just over the video. That is a key idea. If you click on it, you'll go to the originating page. There you will see a new box to the right of the video with three tabs. One is for the case study guide, the next is the transcript and the third is an executive summary. Just over all those tabs is a Key Question. Usually there are additional answers to that question by other entrepreneurs.

Watch the video with some colleagues. Have a discussion about the idea and the content. "How might it apply within your business?"

Those discussions can open new pathways. First, you open the possibilities of building a closer working relation with your colleague. Then, you the possibilities for new insights that can be applied to your own business.
